Mighty Men

Many who are just starting out trying to be the spiritual leader of the family can sometimes get very overwhelmed at the magnitude of the responsibility. But there is no need to be. Pastor Crotts has written a brief starters guide for men who genuinely desire to be the spiritual leader of their homes. The booklet is broken down into 4 sections. The first one deals with the importance of Spiritual Leadership by showing four factors of why men should lead the home. Men have been given the task, there is a ripple effect, lack of it by their husband is the main concern for Christian women and marriage is a picture of Christ's relationship to the Church. Next, he addresses the heart issue: Character. Character is important because that is what makes a man worth following. This section deals with the biblical requirements for leadership, the heart of godly character and spiritual discipline. The third section gets down to the nuts and bolts of family leadership. Pastor Crotts gives practical examples and ways of implementing biblical spiritual leadership. Even though this task seems formidable, it actually is quite simple and always reaps profound results! Finally, the last section talks about communication - that great mystery of marriage. In reality, this great mystery is nothing more than sending and receiving messages. This is a highly recommended booklet. It is easy to read. It is succinct. It is full of encouragement and hope for those who don't have a clue about how to fulfill this God-given responsibility.
Other books that will be of value to husbands are Stuart Scott's "The Exemplary Husband", Lou Priolo's "The Complete Husband" and Jay Adam's "Christian Living in the Home". Let me also recommend (I would demand it, if possible) that you get the audio series by John MacArthur titled "The Fulfilled Family". It's available at Grace To You. Read 'em & Reap!
